National Associate for Korean Schools Northwest Chapter:
Korean Story Contest
The
National Association for Korean schools Northwest Chapter held the 11th
Korean Language Story Contest in April 14th, 2007.
The contest subject is "My Dream" and "The unification
of Korean Peninsular" for the 5th grade to 11th grade and the rest
of them had free subject contests.
The 640 students attended this event at Tacoma Joong Ang Baptist church
located in 8001 Pine St S. Lake wood, Tacoma. There were 38 contestants
to judge and the Judges were: Seoul Korea University Professor, Min
Hyen Wook, Writer, Moon He Sook, Korean American Association of Tacoma
President, Lee Jong Joo, and Korean Women's Association President, Sandra
Englund. Sponsored, ROK Consul General Kwon Chan Ho and Korean Women's
Association (KWA).
The
National Association for Korean schools Northwest Chapter President,
Minister, Oh Sae Young was proud that many students participated and
more students are interested in learning Korean even if many were born
in United State of America. He encouraged to continue learning Korean.
He also addressed that it is good thing to have bilingual Korean and
English. Special Guest Speaker Senator Paull Shin addressed that "As
we see our dream come true like the Korean Day, January 13th is now
legal and we can continue our journey to achieve our dream..."
Consul Yoo Pok Kun also made special remarks that "studying Korean
Language is very crucial and learning Korean culture and stay in touch
with our history and continue their goal and dream....".
Most
of the story tellers were proud that they are learning and improving
their Korean language and they were proud their parents that either
one of the parents or both of them are Korean. Some they want to be
a Singer, Math teacher, Veterinarian, the artist, the writer, or the
Chef, Global World Leader, It was a wonderful moment to hearing children's
dreams and their wish...
The
following lists are the award winners:
The
Best Grand prize award winner w ($500) as given to "Want to be
a Global World Leader" by Lee Jae Jin from, 5th grade, 11 years
old, and 8 years in United State of America.
(Kum
Sang): The Gold winner ( $300) is Jon Ka Hun, story Subject " Friend",
4year old preschool from Bellevue.
(Kum
Sang): The Gold winner ( $300) is Jo Yoon Chong, story Subject "My
Dream - Family", 15 years old from Seattle and 16 years in the
United States.
(Un
Sang): The Silver winners ($200): Grace Park "My favorite sports
in The World" 10th grade from the New Life church in Tacoma.
(Un
Sang): The Silver winners ($200): No Han Na "Han Na's Socks and
I sawed my own socks", 2nd grad, 8 years old from Bedani Korean
Language school.
(Dong
Sang): The Bronze winner($100): Jong Kyu Dong, "My family's Love"
Preschool, 6 years old.
(Dong
Sang): The Bronze Winner($100): Chae Un Joo " My important person"
from Olympia, Christina Calin, 3rd grade 9 years old from Tacoma, and
Jo Un Joo, 10th grade, 15 years old "My Dream" from Seattle.
(In
Ki Sang): The popular award ($100): Lee Yoo Jong "Dance nicely
and pretty" 2nd grade 8 years old.
(In
Ki Sang): The popular award ($100):Park Min Ji "Grand Parents"
2nd grade 8 years old, 8 years in the United States of America.
All
the participants received award each 50.00 dallars.
